Today Marvel Rivals released a new trailer which introduces their new game mode, Clash of Dancing Lions - a 3v3 soccer match where you can use your character abilities. This spring event will take place on January 23, which includes the new game mode and all the skins – including a free skin for Star-Lord, which might be the best skin in the bunch.
There are 3 skins coming with the event - Lion's Mane for Star-Lord, the Lion's Gaze for Iron Fist, and Lion's Heartbeat for Black Widow. I’m pretty into the Chinese festival theme aesthetics, so I’m looking forward to at least getting the free Star-Lord skin.
The soccer game being added looks decent – I was never a big fan of Lucioball from Overwatch, but this event at least let’s me choose between 3 characters instead of only one character. The ball isn't huge like LucioBall or Rocket League and is closer to the size of a regular soccer ball. NetEase says that players will also be able to recieve a nameplate, spray, "and more" which is presumably emotes and the free skin.
NetEase noted that new costumes other than those shown will “make their way to the game in the coming weeks.” So if you’re not interested in what they’ve shown off so far, you might get a skin for your favorite character later.
The devs seems to be keeping a strong pace with pumping the game full of content - they just released two new heroes with 2 more coming in the next few weeks. They've also committed themselves to release two new heroes every season, and 15 heroes have been datamined so far. We'll see if they'll be able to keep up this pace - I'm certainly going to be enjoying the ride if they do.
